(Prayer: Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for a Writ of MANDAMUS directing the respondents to devise and formulate proper rules and regulations as regards manufacture, quality control, specification, pricing, usage and disposal of face masks by public at large besides school going/college students within the time frame to be stipulated by this Court.)

Heard the Learned Counsel for the Petitioner.

2. The learned counsel for the Petitioner raised an issue of usage of face mask by the people of State of Tamil Nadu and he has submitted that despite the fact that World Health Organization, Central Government and other State Governments have issued comprehensive guidelines for the usage and disposal of face masks during COVID period, the State of Tamil Nadu has not issued any separate G.O., or guidelines, in this regard and there is abuse and huge waste of such disposed masks which is causing various issues and therefore, the present Public Interest Litigation is filed by the petitioner.
